Meet the Instructor
I am currently the resident instrumental teacher at Bothal Academy and Central Academy, a role I have proudly held for the past 28 years, helping generations of young musicians develop their skills, confidence, and passion for music.
Music has been at the heart of my life for over 30 years, both as an educator and composer. I was classically trained under the guidance of Mrs. Elsie Davidson and achieved certification with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) in London, a qualification recognised worldwide for its rigorous standards in music theory and performance.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching students of all ages and abilities across Northumberland in both school and private settings. I specialise in piano, keyboard, drum kit, djembe, guitar, and ukulele, and I am passionate about helping every student develop their musical ability, confidence, and enjoyment of learning. I believe that each learner is unique, so I tailor my teaching methods to suit individual needs, goals, and learning styles, creating a supportive and encouraging environment where students can thrive.
In 1990, I established my own private music studio, which remains a rewarding and important part of my professional life. Through the studio, I have composed, arranged, produced, and recorded music for my own projects as well as for professional musicians working across a wide range of genres.
Whether I am teaching, composing, recording, or collaborating with other musicians, I bring patience, enthusiasm, professionalism, and a genuine love of music to everything I do. Seeing students grow in confidence, develop their creativity, and achieve their musical goals continues to be one of the most rewarding aspects of my career.
